Students in the art education major take major courses in the 艺术 and 艺术历史 Department and may seek Specialty Education (grades K-12) Certification in 艺术 by completing an Education minor consisting of those courses required for Specialty Education (grades K-12) Certification. The major fosters creativity of future educators in order that they may in turn nurture creativity and the awareness of art in their students. This program culminates with the exhibition of a body of work at the Senior Show in the Olin Fine 艺术 Gallery each spring.

Beyond the Classroom
In addition to student teaching in local schools, 艺术教育 majors have many opportunities to enrich their own classroom learning, including classes abroad in European art capitals like Paris and Berlin, annual trips to New York City led by the department, and individually designed trips and internships to enhance their studies of art.
Undergraduate coursework in this program also prepares students for graduate studies in fields such as studio art, 艺术治疗, art conservation and museum studies.
